My Tax Lien Investing Journey
My good friend the late Willie "Air
Tight" Hicks and I were setting around and he said to me. "We
need to make some money." I said, "yeah, doing what?"
He said, "real estate." I immediately thought about people
tearing up property and not paying rent. Needless to say I
wasn't too interested. About a year later he asked me
about buying property again. He told me about the Carlton
Sheets Program in the 90's, remember that program? I remember those
late nite info commercials that guaranteed fortune and fame.
I still wasn't interested, nevertheless he convinced me to
review the program. After I reviewed it I concluded you
could make money, but I thought some of the concepts where
border line un-ethical. It was taking advantage of someone
not knowing the in's and outs of real estate. So the
"Win-Win" philosophy was only truly valid in my opinion if
the buyer and seller never found out certain details of the deal.
Anyway, a couple days later after reviewing the program I got a
call from my brother and he made a statement about wanting to
make extra some money too. I asked him, "you got any ideas?"
He says, "Real Estate." I'm like ok, the Creator must be
trying to tell me something. The closes two people to me
are saying the same thing. So I started to dig a little
deeper in the real estate arena. In my search I stumbled across
some tax lien investing information. Once I read it, I was
like this sounds pretty interesting. The cost to start was
what caught my eye as well as the return on your investment.
